Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Gatlinburg Downtown

The room is great. The location is good, but it is quite a walk to the strip. Breakfast was good and breakfast staff is very attentive. I have two complaints. We have been here three days and have not received any housekeeping. I requested towels and never got them. I had to go to the front desk when we got back to our room late one night to ask for them and toilet paper. The guy that has been at the front desk our whole stay is terrible. ZERO customer service. You can go stand at the desk forever and he will not look up at you or acknowledge you. He doesn't say a word when you walk by. If you need something, your presence is an inconvenience to him. I'm a Marriot member and I'm highly dissatisfied by the customer service here.

We stayed here for a family trip for my mother’s birthday. Overall it was a decent stay, but the hotel was lacking in many aspects. When we went it was in the mid 90s, and our air conditioning did not work great. At night everyone ended up ripping off the sheets to get cool. Even if you set it to 65 degrees it won’t dip past 70 (it says it’s 70, felt more like 73 or so). The bathroom was nice, there was a bit of leftover hair from the last guests in the shower. The towels are not absorbent at all, felt very cheap. However the mirror was great for putting on makeup and plenty of counter space. The mattresses were firm, but comfortable. Sheets were comfortable and clean. The staff was definitely nothing to write home about. Usually when we check in on family trips, due to my father’s status, we get waters upon check in. A small touch, but nice when staying in a hotel. None of the staff had much personality, no hospitality. The breakfast looked nice and the area kept clean. We chose to eat in town so cannot comment on the taste. The pool and hot tubs were clean and pleasant temperatures. The location was hard with my mother’s knees. It’s at the very top of the hill and quite a walk to downtown. We had other family staying at the Courtyard and they recommend it highly. With the location being better, it’s probably the better bet.

Nice sized rooms for four adults. Walking distance to downtown area. Hotel and rooms were updated and/or recently remodeled. Wonderful breakfast options that included gluten free muffins, hot food and a yogurt/oatmeal/cereal bar. Oat milk available for coffee! Great (and clean!) pool and hot tub along with an outdoor sitting area with fire pit.

Want to give it a higher rating but can't. It's the little things that matter. Room: Shower handle was broken. Had to push handle in and hope we could get hot water. Beds have very little support. If you need a hard bed, this is not for you. Breakfast: It's eggs and sausage or bacon. No potatoes or anything else. Feels like it's a keto Breakfast. Ran out of creamer for coffee with a packed hotel. Service was great, but the rest was so so.

The room was beautiful and we really enjoyed staying here. However, the wi-fi was terrible and I needed to use the lobby computer for my business -- but it was like internet dial-up. I ended up going to the library. Also, the breakfast had many options, but the quality needs improving. I prefer the other Marriott, but would definitely stay here again.
